An almost completely empty Art Nouveau apartment block was purchased by an Irish investor. The building was in very poor condition with severe incidences of dry rot in the rear wing and high levels of carcinogenic timber preservatives in the roof structure.
RBA was tasked with planning the modernisation in 2004. After a change of owner in 2007, RBA was tasked by the new owner with replanning of the apartments, design of the attic conversion and design of two maisonette apartments in the rear wing. RBA produced designs, production drawings and details and specifications for a redevelopment of the apartment block to a high standard and with the aim of retaining many of the individual historical features of the building such as embossed leather wall coverings in the staircases, stucco facades and internal plasterwork and woodwork throughout the apartments.
